Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'
The Cercis Canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’ is a spectacular, hardy small spreading tree which grows to approx 4x4 metres. In spring the large heart-shaped leaves come out in a brilliant red-purple with a velvet-like appearance. The colour deepens to purple-black, then to a dark purple green before changing to an array of different reds, yellow and orange in autumn; Masses of pink flowers are borne along the bare branches before the leaves appear early spring. The Forest Pansy is an excellent choice for small or large gardens, features, mass planting, colour contrasts and general planting. Plant in sun to part shade and moist well drained soil.
